Lox Stock & Barrel has fast become an institution of the Bondi community.
Set a few streets back from the beach on cosy Glenayr Avenue – the same street as the Beach Rd Hotel. Lox Stock has been bursting with early morning punters from the day the doors first opened.
Lox Stock & Barrel call themselves a Deli Diner. I guess it is, but don’t go there expecting to pick up a serving of Salami. They specialise in bagels, which are made with a whole lotta love. And the Lox (Salmon), some say the best they’ve ever had.
The menu spans breakfast, lunch and dinner. I’ve been there for all three and cannot fault it at all. The produce is fresh, local and treated with love bringing out the natural flavours of the ingredient. The waitstaff are friendly and on the ball.
Breakfast is incredibly special
Its rare to come by a breakfast cafe that is anything but ‘egg centric’. Check out the menu and you’ll understand what I mean. Eggs play a large role in their menu, but they are offering so much more. It’s great to see some creativity that goes beyond eggs on toast and bircher muesli.
Chai Latte – Slowly simmered onsite for hours and reduced down into a concentrate.
Raw Vegetable Salad – Served on a beautiful platter, piled high with fresh seasonal vegetables. With toasted seeds, labne and toast. Add an egg for a dream come true and a killer start to the morning.
The menu is designed to share, so grab a few buddies and head there for a catch up. Warning: like any good eatery be prepared to wait for a table during peak times. Booking essential for dinner.
I cannot recommend this place enough and love their approach to food. They respect their menu, you as the customer and your dining experience. It’s great to see places like this succeed, over some others that slop some reheated crap on a plate, charge you a mint and get angry when you don’t leave a tip.
