Great snacking: 5 ingredients every office worker must have in their draw

5 quick ingredients to make snack time fun at work (that you can buy at any Coles or Woolworths).

We all know lunch is a great thing.

Truth is. Snacking is even better. That is, if you’re prepared and doing it right. This is half the battle.

Why so good?

Snacking makes the long haul to lunch or dinner bearable. We all know that feeling. It can creep up on you when you’re least expecting it (even though the same thing happens everyday). The morning hunger is usually bearable for most, you’ll make it to lunch.. just. But holy mother of giant sandwiches no matter how much you eat or think you can eat at lunch can satisfy that hunger rage.

You end up back at work: partially satisfied – maybe too full – very confused if that amount of food should fit in your stomach.

And then by 2.31pm exactly, you’re on the hunt. What else can I eat?

And this is where great snacks come to the rescue.

The idea behind a good healthy snack is to keep you going until lunch or dinner.

Great snacks will keep you feeling full. Keep you on track to eating the right foods at the right time. They’ll even keep you happy.

I mix it up by soaking overnight to activate them or roasting them to make them super crunchy. Or for a special treat I add some maple syrup for a sweet treat.

Handy for making a quick brekky.

A complete meal topped with an egg or nut butter.
