In day 6 of 7 easy ways to detox without having to detox, I’m featuring one of my favourite desserts – 2 minute healthy chocolate mousse.

Looking for a chocolate fix was rarely high on my agenda. Back in the day I was always more of a ‘sweets’ girl. We used to go to the train station milk bar and stock up on peach sour straps and red clouds and pineapples.

I moved onto chocolate for a bit, dabbling with Haigh’s or good old Mars Bars and Tee Vee Snacks but it was never truly my thing.

That is until I was introduced to the world of Cacao.

It’s now part of my weekly ritual and I add it to smoothies for breakfast (yes you can eat chocolate for breakfast) and it stars in a lot of my desserts/baking. I also make a mean hot chocolate, which I’ve talked about before. I use it in my custom made chocolate products which you can order here.

Cacao is native to the tropical regions of Central and South America. This is BEFORE it has been highly processed by extreme heat, added sugars, milk, preservatives etc. Its seeds are used to make what we know – cocoa powder and chocolate.Pronounced ka-kow. It’s real name Theobroma cacaomeans food of the gods. Cacao has many many benefits. Cacao has been known to help:

  • Muscle relaxation

  • Relieving stress

  • Lowering blood pressure

  • Lower the bad cholesterol (LDL) levels in the body

  • Reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases

  • Enhancing the immune system and stopping the effects of free radical damage

  • Uplift the mood and increase focus

  • Help contribute to the formation of strong bones

  • Strengthening nails, shiny hair and a healthy liver and pancreas

  • TOPPING: banana, raspberries, coconut, cacao nibs, lightly roasted nuts
