This basic porridge recipe is my simple go-to breakfast in winter. It’s quick, wholesome and warming on a chilly winters morning.
By the start of June I’ve usually eaten that much porridge I could turn into a bowl of it.
I love porridge because:
-
2 ingredients
-
Ready in 10 minutes or less
-
Very cheap to make
-
It’s plain but I use it as a vehicle with fun porridge toppers to bring the flavour
-
It’s filling
-
It keeps well, I make it in bulk and heat up daily as I need
My porridge recipe is as simple as oat and water. But I do love to add some extra nutritional value by adding ghee and cinnamon.
Makes: around 1 cup and a bit
Ingredients
-
1 cup rolled oats
-
2 1/4 cups water
-
1 – 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
-
1 tablespoon ghee
Method
-
In a pot combine all ingredients. Stir well.
-
Bring to a boil, then reduce to a low simmer. Cook for 10 minutes with lid off.
-
Cool and store in a glass jar in fridge for the week.
Serve with a porridge topper, coconut yogurt and toasted nuts/seeds.
